Led by Dr Rodrigo Sanches Cunha, this program will focus on integrating key technologies and clinical protocols that can transform your approach to common endodontic scenarios. You will explore essential tools and concepts, including:
- Dental Operating Microscope (DOM): Learn how magnification and illumination can drastically improve visibility, making it easier to locate extra canals while minimizing the removal of healthy tooth structure.
- Three-Dimensional Imaging: Understand how 3D imaging can enhance your ability to visualize challenging anatomy and assist in diagnosing complex cases.
- Electric Motors and Rotary/Reciprocating Files: Discover the indispensable role of electric motors in driving rotary and reciprocating files, ensuring faster, safer glidepath creation and efficient canal shaping.
- Advanced Irrigation Protocols: Learn how the role of irrigants has evolved from being an adjunct to becoming an essential tool for effective disinfection.
- Root Canal Filling Techniques: Explore the latest materials and devices used for three-dimensional obturation, effectively blocking bacterial re-entry and maintaining asepsis.
The session will also include a hands-on component, allowing you to practice shaping and filling protocols under Dr Cunha's guidance. During this session, you'll have the opportunity to receive direct feedback and address any questions or concerns in real time.
Upon completion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Recognize the value of three-dimensional imaging in assessing dental anatomy prior to endodontic treatment.
- Compare the advantages and limitations of rotary and reciprocating instruments for canal shaping.
- Implement an effective irrigation protocol to achieve optimal disinfection.
- Evaluate and apply various devices and materials to achieve three-dimensional obturation and maintain a sterile environment.
Meet the speakers
Rodrigo Sanches Cunha, DDS, MSc, PhD FRCD(C), FICD
Dr Rodrigo Sanches Cunha obtained his dental degree in 1994 from the Catholic University of Campinas in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His post-graduate studies include a specialty degree in endodontics obtained in 1997 from the State University of Campinas (UNI-CAMP); in 2002, a M.Sc. degree in clinical dentistry (endodontics), and in 2006, a Ph.D. degree in dental sciences both of which he received from Sao Leopoldo Mandic Centre for Dental Research. In 2011, Dr Cunha moved to Canada to work as a full-time professor at the University of Manitoba. In 2016, decided to work in private practice full-time. Dr Cunha has been a guest speaker at more than 200 events and published more than 100 papers and abstracts in several peer reviewed journals and has published six chapters in various books and has extensive clinical experience.
